Gregory Elliott Announces Candidacy for Mississippi House District 82 Seat

Long-time Meridian native Gregory Elliott held a rally on Saturday afternoon at the Connor Young Building to announce his candidacy for the Mississippi House of Representatives District 82 seat.

The District 82 seat became vacant following the passing of former Representative Charles Young Jr. in December. Elliott, a familiar figure in the community, outlined his campaign focus on enhancing the region’s economic wealth, advocating for the right policies, and making sound decisions for the state of Mississippi.

Elliott’s platform emphasizes promoting economic growth, particularly supporting small businesses and local development, while ensuring that the needs of the district are effectively represented in the state legislature.

The special election to fill the District 82 seat is scheduled for March 25, 2025. The district includes parts of Lauderdale County. The qualification period for candidates ends on February 3, 2025.

Elliott’s announcement was supported by a large turnout of family and friends, all showing their enthusiasm for his candidacy. Voters will soon choose a new representative for the district in what is expected to be a highly watched election.
