LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk’s office has released unofficial results from the March 25, 2025, special election for Mississippi State House of Representatives District 82. The vote totals include machine, absentee, and affidavit ballots across 13 precincts.
The results show a close race between the candidates. Gregory Eliot led the field with 555 votes, followed by Joseph A. Denson with 409 votes, and Joseph Joe Norwood with 413 votes. No write-in votes were recorded. The total number of votes cast was 1,377.
Though the official results will not be certified until April 6, 2025, after the receipt and processing of absentee ballots postmarked by Election Day, the Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk’s office confirmed that all affidavit ballots were processed on election night due to the small number—just eight.
Runoff Election Scheduled for April 22
Because no candidate secured a clear majority, a runoff election has been scheduled for April 22, 2025. Voters in Lauderdale County will have the opportunity to cast their ballots for one of the two top candidates.
Voters are advised that they may be required to vote at different precinct locations for the runoff elections, particularly if they also need to participate in the city runoff elections on the same day. It is important for voters to refer to their voter registration card for correct precinct information to ensure they are voting at the correct location.
The official certification of results will begin on April 6, 2025, and the final, certified results will be available shortly thereafter.
