Meridian Community College Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Softball Field

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Meridian Community College (MCC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025, at 2 p.m. to unveil its new state-of-the-art softball field located within the Citizens National Bank Sports Complex. The new facility will be home to both the Tommy McDonald Softball Field and the Wanda McPhail Tennis Courts.

The sports complex, situated on the College’s property once occupied by the Matty Hersee Hospital, brings the athletic teams closer to MCC’s Highway 19 North campus. The facility is a significant addition to the college’s athletic infrastructure, aimed at providing an upgraded and modern venue for student-athletes and enhancing the campus’s sports offerings.

The new softball field and tennis courts are part of MCC’s broader efforts to support its athletic programs and create a more accessible and dynamic environment for its student body. This investment will provide student-athletes with cutting-edge facilities to train and compete.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by MCC officials, local leaders, and members of the community, celebrating a major milestone for both the college and its athletic programs.
