MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Meridian High School senior Jaden Mosley has been named to the Mississippi Department of Education State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council for the 2025–26 school year.
Mosley is one of 114 members of the council, which was announced Monday. The group includes high school juniors and seniors along with college freshmen enrolled at Mississippi colleges and universities.
“Jaden’s selection is a tremendous honor and a reflection of her leadership, dedication, and voice for students,” said Dr. Amy Carter, superintendent of the Meridian Public School District. “We are proud to see her represent Meridian High School and our community at the state level.”
The advisory council provides a forum for students to share their perspectives and offer advice about education policy with Dr. Lance Evans, state superintendent of education.
“I am extremely excited to represent our district and take action toward the future for our state’s public school students,” Mosley said.
Students were selected following a competitive application process that required a cover letter, resume and responses to questions about their accomplishments, educational concerns and goals. Nearly 200 students applied for this year’s council.
Meridian High School Principal Sherrod Miller said Mosley’s achievement reflects her character and leadership.
“Jaden has shown great leadership and commitment to excellence,” Miller said. “We know she will make meaningful contributions to the council.”
