MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)- Meridian Community College is preparing to welcome families for one of its most popular fall traditions, the Candy Cruise Around the Track, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the MCC Track.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the MCC Eagle’s Nest Bookstore and sponsored by the MCC Foundation, the event features a festive lineup of themed booths, each creatively decorated and staffed by MCC students and employees in costume. Participants can expect a family-friendly atmosphere with candy, costumes, and Halloween-themed fun.
Organizers said the event has grown in popularity each year, attracting large crowds of families, students, and community members. In 2023, attendees collected an estimated 1,100 pounds of candy, totaling approximately 81,000 pieces, from campus groups and departments participating in the event.
A special early admission period from 5 to 5:30 p.m. will be offered for guests with special needs. The early session is designed to provide a sensory-friendly experience, with reduced crowds and easier access to booths. Passes for early entry can be requested by calling 601-484-8650.
Originally launched in 2020 as a drive-through event in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Candy Cruise has since evolved into an in-person celebration that showcases the college’s creativity and community engagement.
The MCC Foundation continues to support the event as part of its broader mission to foster connections between the college and the surrounding community.
