UNION, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Union police have arrested three people in connection with a commercial burglary at Tri-C Wood Products that occurred during the New Year holiday period, authorities said.
The investigation began Dec. 15, 2025, after Tri-C Wood Products contacted the Union Police Department about suspected after-hours activity at its facility. Officers initially found little evidence, but later discovered that an old wagon and a wheelbarrow were missing from the property.
Police said video evidence later helped identify two suspects, who were confirmed to be recent employees of the company. Further investigation revealed that a quantity of loose copper scrap had also been taken from inside the building. The stolen copper is estimated to be worth about $1,150, though officials said the total loss is still being assessed.
Authorities identified the suspects as David Smith and Shannon Jenkins, both of Union. Warrants were obtained, and Smith was taken into custody without incident. Jenkins was located on the property and briefly fled on foot before surrendering to officers, police said.
Interviews with Smith and Jenkins led investigators to a third suspect, Isaiah Tilley, who police said assisted in selling the stolen property.
Smith has been charged with commercial burglary. Jenkins faces charges of commercial burglary and resisting arrest. Tilley was charged as an accessory after the fact.
The arrests were made by Investigator Joshua Grimes with assistance from Officers T. Stevens, D. Glover, C. Mapp and D. Gilmore.
Union police thanked Tri-C Wood Products for its cooperation and said the department remains committed to protecting local businesses. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
