ELLISVILLE — The Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Ellisville Police Department arrested a Louisiana sex offender Wednesday who authorities said had absconded and was wanted on felony warrants.
Authorities identified the suspect as Shawndrell Harrell, 37, who was wanted by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.
According to law enforcement, Harrell was wanted on warrants alleging failure to notify law enforcement of a change of address or other registration information under Louisiana law, and resisting an officer with force or violence. Authorities said the warrants were issued March 8, 2025, and Oct. 3, 2025.
Officials said Harrell had previously fled on foot during an attempted arrest in Louisiana in 2025 and was listed as absconded.
Investigators said Harrell was working at a business in Ellisville when management discovered he was wanted and contacted Ellisville police. Ellisville investigator Kyle Pickett then coordinated with Jones County Deputy and Sex Offender Compliance Coordinator Bryn Jones, who confirmed Harrell’s warrant status with St. Tammany authorities, officials said.
Law enforcement officers from both agencies arrested Harrell at the Ellisville business without incident.
Harrell is being held at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility pending extradition to Louisiana.
