MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A free outdoor concert in downtown Meridian will kick off the upcoming Wings Over Meridian weekend with a community celebration ahead of the Blue Angels air show.
The event, called Jet Jam, is scheduled for March 27 at 5:30 p.m. on the City Hall lawn in downtown Meridian. The concert is presented by the Arts & Community Events Society, also known as ACES.
Organizers say the event will serve as a “pre-flight” celebration before the Blue Angels take to the skies during the Wings Over Meridian festivities.
The evening will feature live music performances by Still Standing: A Tribute to Elton John and The Live Stock Band.
The concert is free and open to the public.
ACES, which hosts several community events throughout the year, said the event aims to bring residents and visitors together in the heart of downtown Meridian to celebrate one of the region’s largest annual attractions.
Wings Over Meridian, a naval air show hosted by Naval Air Station Meridian, typically draws thousands of spectators to the area each year to watch aerial demonstrations, including performances by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels.
