MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A community event aimed at promoting mental health awareness among young people will return to Meridian next month for its fourth year.
The 4th Annual Youth Talent Show for Mental Health Awareness — May Day Edition is scheduled for May 2 beginning at noon at 4521 35th Ave. The outdoor event will include a talent competition along with rides and additional family-friendly activities.
Organizers say the event is designed to encourage youth participation while raising awareness about mental health and providing a positive outlet for self-expression. Parents and guardians are invited to register their children to participate in the talent show.
A $700 grand prize will be awarded to this year’s winner. Organizers noted that the group XPD, led by performer Shiny Karamel, has won the competition the past two years.
The event is being held in partnership with Great Start Learning Center, which organizers credited for supporting the initiative.
In addition to performers, organizers are also seeking vendors and volunteers. Students in need of volunteer service hours are encouraged to participate.
Registration for youth participants is open through April 13, according to event organizers.
