QUITMAN — Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks officials have reopened Clarkco State Park following extensive renovations, highlighting upgraded campsites, cabins and visitor amenities.

The park’s grand reopening was celebrated Thursday with a special event that included a program and remarks from state Rep. Troy Smith, as well as tours of the updated facilities.

“The renovations at Clarkco State Park mark an important milestone for our agency,” MDWFP Executive Director Lynn Posey said in a statement. “We are proud to welcome visitors back to experience the park’s historic significance while also enjoying its modernized amenities.”

Officials said the park now features 43 updated RV campsites with full hookups, including water, electricity and sewer, along with picnic tables and grills. A renovated lodge and bathhouse are also part of the improvements.

In addition, six cabins have been fully renovated with new kitchen appliances, updated dining and living areas, modern furnishings, upgraded bathrooms and enhanced outdoor spaces, including porches, fire pits and grills.

Reservations for cabins and campsites are now open through the department’s online booking system.

Visitors to the park can take part in activities such as fishing, boating and hiking, as well as use day-use amenities including a playground, disc golf course, tennis courts and pickleball courts. Park entry is $2 per person, while children ages 5 and under are admitted free.
