Local Organizations Pay Off Meal Debt for Northeast High Seniors

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Two local military-affiliated organizations have joined forces to support graduating seniors at Northeast High School, ensuring no student is held back from participating in commencement due to unpaid meal balances.

The VT-9 Officers’ Spouses Club and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 18 raised a combined $2,500 to cover all outstanding Lauderdale County School District meal charges for members of the Class of 2026.

The donation eliminates any remaining breakfast or lunch debt for seniors, a requirement that must be fulfilled before students are allowed to take part in graduation ceremonies.

School officials said the contribution will allow every senior at Northeast High to walk across the stage without concern over unpaid balances, removing a potential financial barrier for students and their families.

The effort highlights a collaborative commitment from local organizations to support education and celebrate student achievement within the community.
