Two Arrested in Meridian Traffic Stop on Drug and Firearm Charges

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Two individuals were arrested following a traffic stop in Meridian on Hwy 19 N and 65th Avenue where officers discovered illegal narcotics and firearms, police said.

According to the Meridian Police Department, traffic enforcement officers conducted the stop earlier Thursday and recovered approximately 42.4 grams of marijuana along with firearms.

Qadarian Easley was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance — marijuana — with a firearm enhancement. Authorities said Easley is being held without bond because he was already out on bond for a previous drug-related charge in Lauderdale County.

Ace Alford Jr. was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance — marijuana — with a firearm enhancement. Police said Alford also faces a probation violation warrant through the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

“When illegal drugs and firearms come together, that creates an even greater threat to public safety,” Meridian Assistant Police Chief Dareall Thompson said in a statement. “Our officers will continue working every day to take guns, drugs and repeat offenders off the streets of our city.”

Officials said the case is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to address crime and improve public safety.
