LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Northeast High School received a grant Monday from the Community Foundation of East Mississippi to support efforts aimed at preparing students for college and careers.
Foundation officials presented the award on April 28 as part of the Susan B. Herron/Lively Arts and Education Grant program, which provides funding to educators, schools, districts and community organizations working to improve education.
School leaders said the funding will be used to reduce costs for students who need to retake the ACT WorkKeys assessment, a standardized test that measures essential workplace skills.
The ACT WorkKeys exam is commonly used by employers to evaluate job readiness and is often tied to hiring, training and advancement opportunities.
Northeast High administrators said the support will help remove financial barriers for students seeking to improve their scores and expand their career options through the school’s Pathways to College and Career Readiness Initiative.
