Mississippi Power Foundation partnership offers $2.50 admission to The MAX through August

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Mississippi Power customers can visit the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience for just $2.50 through the end of August as part of a partnership between the Mississippi Power Foundation and The MAX celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

The summer promotion, which runs through Aug. 30, gives customers throughout Mississippi Power’s 23-county service area discounted admission while also supporting educational opportunities for students during the upcoming school year.

Kaila Moran Griffith, spokeswoman for Mississippi Power, said the partnership is designed to make one of Mississippi’s premier cultural attractions more accessible to families while celebrating the nation’s semiquincentennial.

“We are so excited to partner again with The MAX in honor of our country’s massive milestone for America 250,” Griffith said. “This summer, our customers can take advantage of a special promotion with The MAX where they can visit this amazing facility for just $2.50 now through the end of August.”

Griffith said visitors can experience Mississippi’s rich artistic heritage through the museum’s exhibits highlighting the state’s music, art, history and influential creators.

“It’s a wonderful way for families or just anyone in the Mississippi Power service area to come and experience the culture, the music, the art, and the Mississippians who have really created this culture of Mississippi and this lasting legacy that’s had impacts, not just on our state, but the nation as a whole,” she said.

Customers can receive the discounted admission by presenting the Mississippi Power app, a promotional email or a bill insert at The MAX ticket office.

“We have sent out either an email or a mail piece,” Griffith said. “All they have to do is bring that in, or even easier, they can download the Mississippi Power app and just show that they are a customer to get that special promotion price.”

In addition to the summer admission offer, the Mississippi Power Foundation is providing funding for school field trips to The MAX during the 2026-27 school year, allowing students across the utility’s service area to visit the museum at no cost.

Griffith said the foundation seeks to support organizations that strengthen communities and create lasting educational opportunities.

“This is a partnership with the Mississippi Power Foundation,” Griffith said. “The foundation really wants to make sure as many Mississippians can experience this amazing facility as possible. We really look for those organizations that are creating impacts here locally, and that’s exactly what The MAX is doing.”

Penny Kemp, president and CEO of The MAX, said the partnership helps remove financial barriers while introducing more visitors to the museum’s interactive exhibits and Mississippi’s creative legacy.

“We are so appreciative of Mississippi Power for offering this opportunity for folks to come into The MAX and experience not just the John Jennings exhibit that I’m standing in, but also all of our interactive exhibitions upstairs,” Kemp said.

She noted that many Mississippians have either never visited the museum or have not returned since it first opened.

“There are still so many people across the state who have not toured The MAX, or maybe they haven’t been here in a long time, and they don’t realize all of the amazing interactive exhibits that we have upstairs,” Kemp said. “This is a great way for people to come in, only $2.50 over the summer.”

Kemp said the museum’s mission is to celebrate Mississippi’s artists while inspiring future generations.

“Giving families, young people, and people of all ages access to Mississippi’s Arts and Culture Center — that’s what we are,” Kemp said. “It’s a place for people to learn about their heritage, learn about all of the incredible creatives who have come from this state.”

Among the museum’s current featured exhibitions is “Build Your World” by acclaimed graphic novelist and illustrator John Jennings, a Flora native and New York Times bestselling author.

“I’m super excited about the John Jennings Build Your World exhibition,” Kemp said. “People can come in and say, ‘Hey, look at what an accomplished artist John Jennings is from right here in Flora, Mississippi, and how he has inspired so many to pursue better futures for themselves.'”

According to Mississippi Power Foundation Director Arnie Williams, the partnership reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting institutions that preserve Mississippi’s culture while inspiring future generations.

“The MAX is an absolute gem in Mississippi that showcases and celebrates the Mississippians who have shaped the culture of our great nation,” Williams said in a news release. “What better way to honor our country’s founding than by inviting our families and children in to encounter art, culture and creativity so that they may be our next generation of inspiring leaders.”

The discounted admission is available through Aug. 30 and may be used multiple times throughout the summer by eligible Mississippi Power customers. More information is available on Mississippi Power’s social media channels and at mississippipower.com.
