UPDATE: Everything is back up and running at Highland Park.
PRESS RELEASE
MERIDIAN, Miss. — A phone and internet outage affecting the Highland Park area, including the Frank Cochran Center, continued today.
Parks & Recreation Director Thomas Adams said the outage was traced to damage to a fiber cable caused during nearby construction. The damage was not caused by City of Meridian crews, but the city’s partner, Uniti Fiber, has identified the problem, and repair crews are on site working to restore service as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, anyone needing to reach Meridian Parks & Recreation is asked to call the Velma Young Community Center at 601-482-2368 or 601-482-2365.
City officials thanked the public for its patience and said updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
