COLLINSVILLE, Miss. (WTOK) – A new era is underway for the West Lauderdale Knights softball program. The school introduced Lexie Tune as the team’s new head softball coach on Monday afternoon.

Tune is a familiar name around West Lauderdale, graduating from the school in 2020 after playing for the Knights softball team.

After high school, Tune continued her playing career at the collegiate level, spending two years with Southern Miss before finishing at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Tune also brings coaching experience to the Knights’ dugout. Most recently, she served as the head softball coach at Southeast Lauderdale, and prior to that, she was an assistant coach at Sebastopol.

“The tradition and expectations and standards have been set at West Lauderdale and for the softball program,” Tune said. “So just coming alongside my coaches and just building on that success is my plan. We’ll just plan to outwork everybody, compete the right way, and make sure to keep West Lauderdale competing at the highest level possible.”

West Lauderdale is coming off a championship season after defeating Itawamba to win the 4A state title last year. Now, Tune takes over with the goal of keeping that momentum going in 2026.
