MARION, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Marion residents will see a change to their weekly garbage collection schedule beginning later this month.
Starting Friday, Aug. 21, Waste Pro will collect residential garbage on Fridays, according to a notice from the town. Collection will begin at 5:30 a.m.
Residents are being asked to place their trash carts at the curb the night before to ensure their garbage is collected.
The change moves Marion’s regular residential collection day from Wednesday to Friday.
Town officials said the earlier collection time is intended to help protect sanitation workers from extreme summer heat.
The new Friday schedule takes effect Aug. 21. Residents should have their carts ready for collection before crews begin their routes at 5:30 a.m.
