MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A man was hospitalized Thursday night after a shooting stemming from a family disturbance in Meridian, police said.
Officers with the Meridian Police Department responded about 8:30 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital. Police said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The person suspected in the shooting was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Meridian Police Department for questioning, according to police.
Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a family disturbance. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Authorities did not immediately release the names of the victim or the person taken into custody. No information about possible charges was available Thursday night.
The shooting remains under investigation, and police said no additional information was immediately available.
