PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (WTOK) – The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office says a 24-year-old Conehatta woman is dead and another 24-year-old is charged with murder after a shooting on County Road 632.

Deputies say 24-year-old Paneshia Faye Mingo, of Mills Road in Conehatta, was found dead early this morning on County Road 632. Shell casings were found near her body, and the Neshoba County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Mingo had been shot.

According to investigators, members of the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, the Safe Trails Task Force and an FBI response team worked the case throughout the day. Just after 3:30 p.m., investigators executed a search warrant at a home at 10854 Road 632.

During that search, deputies say they recovered an AM-15 patrol rifle chambered in 7.62×39 caliber. A preliminary examination determined the gun matched the shell casings that were collected from the crime scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Later, deputies arrested 24-year-old Markeaislon Rush, who lives at that Road 632 address. Rush was taken to the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office and questioned about his involvement in the shooting. Investigators say Rush confessed.

Rush is now charged with First-Degree Murder under Mississippi Code § 97-3-19. Authorities allege he knowingly and deliberately caused the death of Paneshia Faye Mingo in Neshoba County.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be considered as the case continues.
