MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -Students at Northeast Lauderdale Elementary School spent Thursday morning learning firsthand about the people and agencies that serve and protect their community.
The school hosted several local community partners, giving young students an up-close look at essential public service and utility careers. Representatives in attendance included the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency (LEMA), East Mississippi Electric Power Association (EMEPA), Metro Ambulance, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, local firefighters, and WTOK-TV.
Throughout the morning, students met with personnel, explored specialized equipment and vehicles, and learned about future career paths available right in their own backyard. Presenters also emphasized how various local organizations collaborate daily to keep Lauderdale County safe, informed, and running smoothly.
