Thompson said officers continued working toward an arrest and accountability in the case.
“This arrest reflects the kind of coordinated police work we expect,” Thompson said.
The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, in the 1900 block of 39th Place. Police initially reported that the victim was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Jackson because of the severity of the injuries.
