MCC’s Eagles for Life event to honor those impacted by all types of cancer

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)— Meridian Community College will bring the community together later this month to celebrate cancer survivors, support those currently fighting the disease and remember those who have died.

MCC will host Eagles for Life: A Night of Hope & Remembrance on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the college’s Smith Soccer Complex.

Formerly known as Race for Life and Street Strut, the annual cancer awareness event has been expanded to recognize people affected by all types of cancer. This year’s theme is “Hope Takes Flight.”

Participants will walk the track in recognition of cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment while also honoring caregivers and remembering loved ones lost to cancer.

Admission is $10 and includes walking the track. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

Several additional activities are planned throughout the evening. Luminaries can be purchased for $15 in honor or memory of someone impacted by cancer. A Kids Fun Run will be held for a $10 registration fee, and participants can take part in the Umbrella Street Strut for $10 by decorating an umbrella for the event.

Proceeds from Eagles for Life will help support MCC students, families and others in the community who have been impacted by cancer.

Admission, luminaries and entries for the Kids Fun Run and Umbrella Street Strut can be purchased through MCC’s Eagles for Life website at meridiancc.edu/eaglesforlife.
