JONES COUNTY – A teenage driver and a Jones County School District bus were involved in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in the Powers community, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash happened on Highway 184 at the intersection of Lawn Haven Church Road. Authorities said the bus and a Toyota passenger car driven by a teenage girl collided there.
The driver of the Toyota declined medical transport.
The school bus driver and one of the seven students on the bus were transported by EMServ Ambulance Service to South Central Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Jones County Sheriff’s Department, EMServ Ambulance Service, Powers Fire & Rescue, M&M Fire & Rescue, Sandersville Fire & Rescue and the Jones County School District.
Highway 184 was closed at the crash site while crews responded and investigators worked the scene.
