A two-day human trafficking operation in Oxford led by the state’s Human Trafficking Task Force resulted in seven arrests and the recovery of five victims, officials announced.
During Operation Fins Up, investigators and prosecutors from the Attorney General’s Office worked alongside federal, state, and local partners — including the Oxford Police Department and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office — to make the arrests and secure victim services. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed an immigration detainer on one subject pending release from state charges.
Kevin Malone, President Trump’s Senior Advisor on Human Trafficking at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, observed the operation, including the victim advocacy services provided on site.
Officials said the effort reflects a dual commitment: removing traffickers from the streets and setting survivors on a path to recovery.
“We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who worked with us on Operation Fins Up and who are a part of our task force,” the announcement stated.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
