MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A potential arson investigation is underway after a fire broke out Wednesday morning at the Bonita Lakes Inn, formerly known as the Baymont Inn, located at 524 Bonita Lakes Drive.
According to Meridian Fire Department Chief Deputy Eric Hardy, crews responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters later discovered suspicious items inside one of the rooms, prompting officials to call in the State Fire Marshal’s Office to assist in the investigation.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire due to ongoing renovations. No injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
