MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Legacy Hospice officially celebrated its ribbon cutting and open house Thursday afternoon, marking a new chapter of service in Meridian and surrounding communities.
The ceremony, put on by the EMBDC, took place at 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at Legacy Hospice’s new location, 2307 12th Street, where staff welcomed community members, partners, and local leaders to learn more about the organization’s mission and services.
Branch Administrator Ginger Sirkin said the Meridian branch began accepting patients in January 2025, but Thursday’s event was an opportunity to formally introduce the team to the public.
“We want people to know that we are here and ready to serve the community,” Sirkin said. “I want them to know that we are present. I want them to feel that we are present. When we are in their home, we are listening to their needs and concerns.”
Legacy Hospice was founded in 2004 and now operates in five states with 22 offices. The Meridian branch includes a staff of 10 local team members, all from the area.
“Hospice is not about curing—it’s about walking someone home with dignity,” Sirkin said. “We want families to know that we are compassionate, that we’re invested in their care, and that they truly become part of our family.”
Sirkin highlighted the experience and dedication of her team, noting that her registered nurse brings 22 years of hospice experience, a rarity in the field. “Our chaplain is top-notch,” she added. “She has worked in different areas of the community—my whole team is great.”
Legacy Hospice provides end-of-life care and support services focused on comfort, dignity, and compassion for patients and their families.
