LORMAN — Alcorn State University implemented a campus lockdown Thursday after what the school described as a threat to campus safety.
In a message shared through the university’s alert system and on social media, Alcorn State told students to shelter in place and said only essential employees should report to work. The university also announced a late start at noon, with updates to be shared as they become available.
The school urged students and employees to monitor their Alcorn email and official university social media channels for information. For emergencies, the university directed people to contact Campus Police at 601-877-3000, according to the message.
Details about the threat were not immediately released, and the situation remained under investigation.
