Meridian launches free monthly trolley service through November

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The City of Meridian will begin offering free trolley rides on the first Saturday of each month starting April 4, continuing through Nov. 7, as part of an effort to connect residents and visitors to destinations across the city.

The program allows riders to park once and travel throughout Meridian at no cost. Free parking will be available at the city’s parking garage located at 723 23rd Avenue.

City officials say the initiative is designed to improve access to local attractions and encourage more people to explore the community without the need for multiple stops or additional transportation.

“Trolley rides are back in Meridian,” the city said in an announcement promoting the program.

Community Development Director Terrell Thompson said the service aims to simplify travel while highlighting the city’s offerings.

“We’re making it easier for people to see everything Meridian has to offer,” Thompson said. “Park once, ride all day, and rediscover your city.”

Officials also noted that the updated route now includes Merrehope, a historic site that has been added following public interest.

The trolley service will run every first Saturday from April through November, offering a consistent, accessible option for residents and visitors alike.

City leaders described the program as part of ongoing efforts to build momentum and strengthen community engagement across Meridian.
