JACKSON – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to remain weather aware as the remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur continue moving across the state.

According to MEMA, severe storms, including possible tornadoes, may develop as the system moves through Mississippi.
MEMA reported that tornado warnings were issued Thursday morning for Greene County and for George, Perry and Stone counties. Those warnings have since expired.
Officials said residents should identify their safe place and have a plan ready for their family in case a tornado warning is issued.
MEMA also encouraged residents to know which National Weather Service office covers their area. Mississippi is served by National Weather Service offices in Jackson, Mobile, New Orleans and Memphis.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and weather alerts throughout the day.
