MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The City of Meridian has named Greg Morgan as its EMS director as Pafford Ambulance Service begins providing emergency medical services in the city Friday, Sept. 18.
Morgan will oversee the city’s EMS district and work with Pafford, the Meridian Fire Department, E911 and other emergency response partners to coordinate emergency medical response.

City officials said the transition is focused on improving response and providing dependable emergency medical care to residents.
“This has always been about one thing: protecting our citizens and saving lives,” Mayor Percy Bland said. “When someone calls 911, they deserve dependable emergency medical care without delay. Pafford brings additional resources and experience to Meridian, and Greg Morgan gives us strong local leadership to make sure this system works for the people we serve.”
Chief Administrative Officer Craig Hitt said the city has remained focused on emergency medical response throughout the transition to the new ambulance provider.
“We made this change because we believe our citizens deserve the best service available,” Hitt said. “We have worked through the challenges necessary to get here, and now our focus is where it belongs: providing dependable care, improving response and saving lives. When someone needs an ambulance, nothing else matters.”
Morgan said his priority in the new role will be ensuring patients receive the appropriate resources as quickly as possible.
“When that call comes in, somebody may be experiencing the worst moment of their life,” Morgan said. “Our responsibility is to get the right people and the right resources to them as quickly as possible. With Pafford, our firefighters, EMTs and emergency response partners working together, our focus will be on delivering the care our citizens deserve when every second counts.”
The city said it will continue working with Pafford and other emergency response agencies to ensure a smooth transition and coordinated EMS system.
