MERIDIAN – The City of Meridian Animal Shelter is asking the community to consider adopting a pet as the facility reaches capacity.
In an effort to find homes for animals currently at the shelter, officials announced that adoption fees will be reduced to $100 for the remainder of the week.
The shelter is encouraging residents who have been considering adding a pet to their families to take advantage of the reduced adoption fees and help provide homes for animals in need.
According to the shelter, all animals available for adoption are spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccinations and have received their first round of vaccines.
The shelter is located at 501 Cooper Avenue in Meridian.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility is closed daily from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
Shelter officials hope the reduced fees will encourage more adoptions and help ease overcrowding.
Residents interested in adopting are encouraged to visit the shelter and meet the animals waiting for homes.
editors note: Updated this story to correct the adoption fee amount, we had incorrectly listed it as $10 instead of $100.
