MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Meridian/Lauderdale County affiliate of Keep Mississippi Beautiful was honored this week at the 2025 Keep Mississippi Beautiful Awards Ceremony in Jackson, earning second place in the Partnership Award for Local Government.

The award recognizes outstanding partnerships with local governments that demonstrate achievements in beautification, recycling and litter cleanup, and who actively work to improve and enhance their community environments.

The City of Meridian was specifically recognized for its aggressive efforts to remove neglected and abandoned properties through its Code Enforcement Department. Officials noted that this initiative has led to noticeable improvements in neighborhood appearance and safety.

In addition, the City’s volunteer-led Good Citizens Clean-up Day received recognition for its continued success in keeping neighborhoods not only litter-free, but also safer and more livable.

The Keep Mississippi Beautiful Awards Program celebrates the top-performing affiliates, corporate partners, and individual volunteers across the state and nation who are committed to building cleaner, greener, and more beautiful communities.
