MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Officers and staff of the Meridian Police Department were honored Thursday with a cookout recognizing their service and dedication under the leadership of Chief Deborah Naylor-Young.
The event, organized by Chief Young, brought together department members, their families, and community guests for a day of appreciation, food, and fellowship.
“I appreciate their hard work and dedication to Meridian Police Department and the Citizen’s of Meridian,” Young said.
Held in a spirit of gratitude, the Officer Appreciation Cookout highlighted the strong bonds within the department and the wider Meridian community. Young noted that she received help organizing the event from several individuals, including Sergeant Chanetta Stevens, who played a key role in planning, and Judge Dustin Markham, who also contributed to the effort.
“A lot of times, law enforcement doesn’t feel appreciated, and we just wanted to show appreciation to them and let them know — we are a family. We love you, and we will always be a family whether we are here are not. We will always be a family,” Young said.
