Kemper County Female Athletes Empowered Through Mental Health Workshop

KEMPER COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Female athletes at Kemper County High School took part in a transformative mental health workshop last week, led by Kelly Smith and her team from Holistic Health Therapy.

Hosted by Kemper County Wildcat Athletics, the session focused on mindfulness, emotional growth, and self-awareness—an experience organizers described as “powerful,” “intentional,” and “a moment they won’t forget.”

Smith, the founder of Holistic Health Therapy, arrived with homemade T-shirts, self-care gifts, journaling prompts, and prizes. But it was her energy, compassion, and wisdom that left the deepest impact.

“She came with energy. She came with gifts and goodies. She came with homemade T-shirts, prizes, and purpose,” said Wildcat Athletics in a statement. “But more than that—she came with wisdom, love, and intention.”

During the workshop, Smith led the athletes through meaningful conversations and introduced a personalized “mental health road map” designed to help them overcome personal obstacles and build resilience.

“Today wasn’t just a talk. It was an investment. An act of service. A moment they won’t forget,” the school stated.

The event is part of a larger effort by Kemper County to support the holistic development of its student-athletes—empowering them not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

“Thank you, Kelly, for being a beacon for our athletes,” the school added. “You’re helping us UPLIFT and set the standard for what it means to grow strong in mind, body, and spirit.”
