Culvert Installation Complete, Pine Forest Road Reopens to Traffic

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Pine Forest Road has officially reopened following a temporary closure caused by the unexpected failure of a bridge structure, according to a post by the Lauderdale County Road and Bridge Department on Facebook.

After a full evaluation by engineers, the department determined that a complete replacement was necessary to ensure long-term safety. Rather than reconstructing the original bridge, two 60-inch culvert pipes were installed as a more efficient and cost-effective alternative.

The large pipes are designed to handle the same volume of water flow as the previous bridge and are expected to serve as a strong, long-term drainage solution.

A temporary gravel surface has been placed over the new culverts to reopen the roadway while crews monitor the installation and prepare for permanent paving. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the area, as the gravel surface may be uneven.

The department thanked residents and commuters for their patience during the project and emphasized its ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure.
