JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is reminding boaters about the state’s boater education requirement during National Safe Boating Week.

According to MDWFP, anyone born after June 30, 1980, must complete a boater education course before operating a motorized vessel on Mississippi’s public waters.
MDWFP offers both in-person and online boater education courses designed to help boaters understand navigation rules, recognize potential hazards and practice safe boating.
Those who need to complete the course can visit mdwfp.com/enforcement-education/boater-education.
MDWFP said it will share more safe boating tips throughout the week.
