Mississippi Blood Services is urging residents across South Mississippi to donate blood as local hospitals continue to rely on volunteer donors.
The organization is hosting mobile blood drives in communities throughout the region during August.
Officials said a single blood donation can help save up to three lives and encouraged eligible donors to take part.
As part of its “Race to Save Lives” back-to-school campaign, anyone who donates at a participating mobile blood drive between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 will automatically be entered for a chance to win one of two $500 Visa gift cards.
No additional registration is required for the giveaway.
Walk-ins are welcome as space allows. Donors should bring a photo ID, eat a healthy meal beforehand and stay hydrated.
