WAYNE COUNTY – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam caller who has been identifying himself as “Sergeant Hall.”
The sheriff’s office said it does not have an employee by that name and does not use the title of sergeant.
Officials also stressed that the sheriff’s office will not call residents demanding payment for tickets or active warrants.
Anyone who receives such a call is advised not to send money, provide personal information or agree to meet with the caller.
The sheriff’s office is encouraging residents to hang up and contact the department directly if they are unsure whether a call is legitimate.
