LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A Lauderdale County man has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old woman late last year.

Authorities say Ja’Carrius LaShon Gaddis, 28, of Lauderdale, was arrested on Wednesday, June 11, following a months-long investigation into the death of Alexis Deshanna House, who was killed on December 31, 2024.

Deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department responded to an E-911 call at approximately 1:51 p.m. that day, reporting that a female had been shot at a residence in the 4000 block of York Road. Upon arrival, deputies found House lying on the floor inside the home. Once the scene was secured, Metro Ambulance personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators say the arrest followed an extensive investigation, which included multiple interviews, analysis of physical evidence, and a finalized autopsy report. Gaddis, who was in a domestic relationship with House, was taken into custody and formally charged with murder.

Bond for Gaddis was set at $250,000, and he was released from the Lauderdale County Detention Facility at 9:52 a.m. Wednesday after posting bond.

The case will be presented to the next available grand jury for further consideration.
