KEMPER COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A DeKalb woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after deputies say she struck another person in the face with a glass bottle during a weekend altercation.
The incident happened Sunday at the Deville Apartment Complex on Highway 39 North, according to the Kemper County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Maria Brunson allegedly used the bottle to hit the victim on the left side of the face, causing a severe laceration.
The victim was transported for medical treatment.
Brunson was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault. During her initial appearance Tuesday at the Kemper County Courthouse, she was issued a $5,000 bond and assigned a mandatory court date of Oct. 27.
