MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured Thursday evening in Meridian.
The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 19 and 20th Street, according to Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson with the Meridian Police Department.
One person was struck in the leg and transported to a local hospital by private vehicle. Thompson said suspects shot into a vehicle and that the victim and suspects appeared to know each other, calling it an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
“This is an active investigation with multiple persons of interest,” Thompson said, adding that warrants are likely to be issued next week.
