Weather Delays Next Phase of Meridian Trunkline Rehabilitation Project

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The next phase of Meridian’s Highway 80 Trunkline Rehabilitation Project has been rescheduled due to inclement weather, city officials announced.

The work, originally planned for this week, is now set to begin the week of Dec. 8–12. As part of the project, the City of Meridian and its contract partner will temporarily close portions of 18th Avenue, just north of the La Piñata restaurant.

The closure will allow crews to replace an aging 24-inch gravity sewer trunk line as part of Phase 2B of the rehabilitation project. City leaders say the work is essential to improving long-term reliability and service for nearby homes and businesses.

Detour signs will be posted to guide traffic safely around the construction zone.

Officials thanked residents and businesses for their patience, noting that the upgrades are expected to strengthen the city’s infrastructure, reduce future service interruptions and support continued growth in Meridian.
