MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Meridian Fire Department gave the public a first look at a new heat-simulator training structure behind Station 1 on Tuesday.
Chief Michael Evans said the two-story structure, built in-house from shipping containers, cost approximately $30,000, far less than the $250,000 price of a traditional facility. Temperatures inside the simulator reach 800–900 degrees, providing firefighters with realistic training for house fires, which can reach 1,200 degrees.
Evans said the simulator enhances firefighter readiness while remaining cost-effective for the city.
