MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Students at Carver Middle School welcomed special guests earlier this month as part of Read Across America Day celebrations on March 6.
Community Development Director Terrell Thompson and Executive Assistant Jamarcus Emerson visited the school to read with students and take part in a day focused on promoting literacy and creativity.
The event featured guest readers, interactive games and storytelling sessions designed to encourage a love of reading among students. Children also had the opportunity to dress up as their favorite book characters, adding to the festive atmosphere.
During the visit, Thompson read several books to students, including “We Are Free, You and Me” by Colin Kaepernick and Nessa Diab.
School officials said the event was part of a broader effort to inspire young readers and highlight the importance of literacy in the community.
