MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The City of Meridian Water Department has earned first place in the Mississippi Rural Water Association Water Tasting Contest, according to a social media announcement from the City of Meridian.
The winning water sample will now represent Mississippi at the National Rural Water Association’s Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C.
City officials said the recognition reflects the work of the department’s employees, who provide drinking water service to Meridian residents.
“Momentum is built by great people who do their jobs well every single day,” the city said in its Facebook post announcing the award.
The city also praised the department’s professionalism, dedication and pride in serving the community, saying the achievement highlights the importance of the team’s daily work.
The Great American Water Taste Test is held annually as part of the National Rural Water Association’s WaterPro Conference, where winning water systems from participating states compete for national recognition based on the taste of their drinking water.
City officials congratulated the Water Department on the achievement, calling it a point of pride for both the department and the Meridian community.
