Silver Alert issued as Jones County deputies continue search for missing 87-year-old man

JONES COUNTY – The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to search for Harvey Lee Roberts, an elderly man reported missing from the Currie community, as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has activated a Silver Alert in the case.

Authorities said Roberts was last seen around 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026, at a home in the 400 block of Currie Road in Jones County.

According to the Silver Alert, Roberts is 86 years old, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 98 pounds. He has black-and-white hair and brown eyes. The sheriff’s department previously described him as 87 years old with black and gray hair.

Officials said Roberts was last seen wearing red shorts, a gray shirt and no shoes. There is no known direction of travel.

Authorities said Roberts suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment.

Overnight search efforts did not turn up any clues to his whereabouts, according to the sheriff’s department. Ground, K-9 and drone grid searches were suspended at midnight. On Monday morning, patrol deputies and Jones County Beat 5 crews resumed canvassing the area while awaiting additional drone support from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The sheriff’s department is asking residents who live on or near Currie Road to review security camera footage beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday to see whether Roberts may have been in the area.

Anyone with information about Roberts’ whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 601-425-3147 or 601-425-0223.
